NAOSS urges Ondo State govt to prioritize students Welfare, calls for Immediate payment of bursaries and scholarships


The National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) on Thursday, paid a courtesy visit to the Ondo State Government ably led by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami(mni), who represented the Governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, The president of the association, in fulfilment of the association’s constitution decorated the governor as the Grand Patron of the association, the meeting which it’s primary agenda was to advocate for the immediate approval and increment of both the amount and the number of beneficiaries of bursaries and scholarships, the provision of mobile secretariat (buses), more attention to the welfare of students, and the empowerment of students through small and medium-scale entrepreneurship.

The meeting was attended by representatives from NAOSS, led by the Global President, Sen. Hammed Oyelade ,the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami(mni), the Chief of Staff to the governor, Prince Omojuwa Olusegun, the SA on Education, SA Political, the SA on Information to the Governor, Stakeholders of the association and some other government officials.

Sen. Hammed Oyelade presented the association’s requests, which included:
– Immediate Approval and increment of the amount and number of beneficiaries of bursaries and scholarships.
– Provision of mobile secretariat (buses) for the association.
– More attention to the welfare of ondo state students.
– Empowerment of students through small and medium-scale entrepreneurship initiatives and student that are into farming.
-Increment in Association’s subvention.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami assured the NAOSS representatives that he would convey their messages and requests to the Governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa. He pledged to give due consideration to the issues raised during the courtesy visit.

The courtesy visit by NAOSS to the Ondo State government was a proactive step in advocating for the interests and welfare of students in the state. The commitment from the Deputy Governor to relay the requests to the Governor indicates a positive engagement between the government and the student body, with hopes for constructive outcomes in addressing the concerns raised.
